This is my 1st 3D printer after years of research on the matter. I couldn't justify the price for a decent starter one like a Prusa or the Enders but since Vine offered one I decided to try it.Purpose of the Maker 3D:As stated, this is aimed for STEM/kids and that part is taken care of as promised. Between the user friendly interface and their proprietary software the CAD (computer assisted design) portion can be much easier to learn than your regular Blender/SketchUp etc. At the same time the functionality offered by the Xmaker's software is minuscule compared to the big CAD suites. Agan, this isn't an issue for kids, in fact it might be a good thing because it keeps things simple and the learning curve won't drive them away from the hobby.The software they use is available on PC, Android and IOS which is great. I haven't tried the IOS versions yet but I've watched other people do it and they were happy with the experience. You'll always get the occasional glitch but that's par for the course with upstarts and hopefully they keep updating the SW. My personal gripe is that in Windows the X-Maker app has non functional union/substract/intersect functionality doesn't work on the left hand panel but does if you click the same buttons on the bottom of the screen (quick actions sort of). That prevented me from designing stuff until I figured it out.The proprietary slicer:It's a hit with their own designs and not great with other models. You can only import STL files in X-Print and…
